The Gladstone Theatre is situated in the garden village of Port sunlight in Wirral. It is run by the Gladstone Theatre Trust - a voluntary organisation - and presents both Amateur and Professional Shows
We have two resident Societies ( Port Sunlight Players and Bebington Dramatic Scociety ) who perform Comedy, Drama,Musicals, Pantomimes and all aspects of Youth work
The theatre is used by Local Operatic Societies, Musical Groups, Youth Organisations, and Dancing Schools. Each Spring there is a well established Drama Festival covering Youth and Adult work
The Trust arranges an interesting mixed programme of Choral Work, Jazz, Folk and Clasical Concerts. Local Celebrities and Star names appear for One Night Stands. The Theatre is also used for meetings, seminars, rehearsals etc.
We aim to provide a Community Theatre with a warm and friendly atmosphere for the residents of Wirral.
We need to extend our group of enthusiasts who love the Theatre, but do not wish to perform themselves.
By becoming a Friend of Gladstone Theatre your practical support will make a very important contribution towards maintaining the high standards of the Theatre.
We need Auditorium Stewards who would welcome patrons, sell programmes, ice cream and refreshments.
We need Bar Staff and Maintenance Helpers. We need people with skills in Technical and Design work, Administration, Catering, Wardrobe creation and maintenance, and the ability to handle a paintbrush !!
Pick up an application form at the Theatre, fill it in and send it of to the Secretary (address on form ) or simply hand it to one of the Stewards in the Auditorium
A resident society at the Gladstone Theatre and annually they present 4 plays. Comedy, Drama, Farce and Thrillers are on the bill of fayre.
A Resident Society, The Port Sunlight Players is one of the oldest established amateur companies on the Wirral. Their first production was in 1921. Each year they produce two Plays a Pantomime and a Musical
